Contact lens wearers should not confuse ‘daily wear’ lenses with ‘daily disposable’ as they aren’t necessarily the same thing.

Disposable lenses can be any wearing type

‘Disposable’ doesn’t always have to mean daily disposable contact lenses. You’ll find that two weekly and monthly wear lenses are often called two weekly disposables and monthly disposables. These lenses are also typically prescribed for ‘daily wear’ and require cleaning and storing overnight, which doesn’t make them daily disposables.

Daily wear lenses are worn during the day

A daily wear lens such as daily disposables can be worn during the day and must be removed before sleeping, because daily disposables are not approved for extended (overnight) wear. A daily wear lens might be replaced daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly, depending on the brand. Only a daily disposable lens can be worn for the day and thrown away before bed.

Daily disposable contact lenses are not reusable

It’s very important that you don’t reuse your daily disposable contact lenses. These lenses are designed to be worn as single-use only and therefore, are very thin and could break or tear easily if reused. You cannot sleep in daily disposables as they are only designed to be used for a day and then they must be discarded.
