Systane Gel Drops and Systane Ultra are both high performance eye drops that provide long lasting relief for dry eye.
Both these eye drops relieve soreness and irritation; however, Systane Ultra offers faster hydration and can be applied throughout the day whereas Systane Gel Drops are best applied before bed and features a thick gel formula which forms a protective shield on the eye and provides long-lasting relief to more severe dry eyes. These gel drops can be used before and after wearing contact lenses.
In addition to this Systane Ultra is designed for aqueous dry eye which means that it helps dry eye in patients who have an aqueous and mucin tear layer deficiency.
Both eye drops come in a 10ml bottle, perfect for when you’re on the go and your eyes need a quick refresh.
Systane Ultra is a better choice if you’re looking for an eye drop to use during the day when you must have clear vision right away. It is suitable to use before and after inserting contact lenses and the bottle lasts for 6 months after opening.
Systane Gel Drops, on the other hand, take a few minutes to clear in the eyes but last longer in the eye, making them better for using overnight when dry eye syndrome is more severe. It is not contact lens friendly, and the bottle must be discarded 3 months after opening.
